Startups Take Sap Consulting To The Cloud

SAP: HP Consultants Know What They're Doing, IBM And Accenture Don't (SAP, HPQ)

About 1,000 SAP consultants have expressed an interest in working with Vivido, but the company has selected an initial group of about 400 for now, according to Tomb. The system works well for the experts, many of which are veterans and "tired of traveling," Tomb said. "It gives them the ability to make extra money and get in front of new customers. ... These people love working through the hard problems," he added. Following feedback from initial customers, Vivido is now tweaking its platform to ensure customers can name a preferred consultant if desired, rather than be assigned one randomly from a group specializing in a particular area, Tomb said. Vivido is focusing on customers whose SAP implementations are already up and running and need help with configuration issues or other "post-go-live" problems, Tomb said.

However, a customer that is just about to hit the switch on an implementation might want to call in Vivido's experts to serve as a last-minute extra set of eyes, he added. In addition to remote help, Vivido is attempting to build up a large repository of white papers, how-to guides and other information relating to specific areas of SAP software.

WCI Consulting Receives 2012 SAP Pinnacle Award

He went on to propose consultants should be certified to prove their competence. Leo needs to blame someone: SAP implementations are notorious for their difficulty and cost overruns, and last month jeweler Shane Co. blamed difficulties with SAP's software as partly responsible for the company's bankruptcy . But it looks like Leo wasn't just mouthing off: SAP just announced it was certifying EDS, a division of HP (HPQ), as the first company to implement its own "Run SAP" systems integration methodology. A risky strategy for SAP. It's admirable the German ERP giant is trying to do something about their software's poor reputation. And some of SAP's consulting partners -- who make money hand-over-fist by deploying untrained new hires to client sites as SAP "experts" -- certainly share a good deal of blame for failed SAP implementations. But if SAP gets serious about telling clients to prefer "certified consultants" like HP's EDS, longtime SAP partners like Accenture won't take the news lying down. A lot of companies only decide on ERP software after firms like IBM, PricewaterhouseCoopers, etc recommend it to them. Whether any one consulting firm has a track record of fouling up SAP implementations is besides the point.

EnteGreat Acquires Technology Solutions Company's SAP Consulting Practice

You can listen to the meeting by clicking the podcast player located at the top of this post. The discussion was interesting for several reasons: As CIO of an organization employing 75,000 people in 120 countries, Jennifer is responsible for running a huge IT infrastructure. This conversation offers insight into the CIO's view of a large-scale IT operation. SAP purposefully did not include any of its own folks in the room to ensure the conversation would be open and without restriction. Enterprise bloggers are a tough and sometimes ornery group; the podcast recording lets you be a fly on the wall while seven bloggers ask hard questions of this CIO. Aside from me, the following bloggers participated in the session: I've pulled out some key quotes from the conversation. On Business Suite 7: Business Suite 7 is a really good evolutionary step. With previous SAP versions, every technical upgrade took 3-6 months and 15 people. Last year, we did four upgrades, which is roughly the equivalent of 15 man-years. With the new modular approach in Business Suite 7, we can reduce that time and redeploy those people to do things that are more important. That's the big difference. New Business Suite 7 deployments involve normal system implementation with all the change processes and job redesign that entails. On social media: We're still in that relatively early phase of trying to understand how it works.

SAP HR Consultant

It will continue to serve high-technology and Industrial Machinery and Components (IM&C) markets, in addition to expanding into new sectors, such as Life Sciences, Food and Beverages, and Mill Products. What will change is that customers now have access to the combined expertise of both companies at once and stand to gain from the resulting comprehensive benefits. "When we combine the strength of EnteGreat in manufacturing execution with the enterprise solutions strength of TSC's SAP Consulting Practice, we believe we can deliver the industry's most comprehensive technology solution to our manufacturing customers," said Rob Gellings, Chief Executive Officer of EnteGreat. "This acquisition represents a major step forward in our long-term strategy to expand into the enterprise solutions market and other high-growth segments. Now more than ever EnteGreat is poised to directly align enterprise business processes with manufacturing operations, in order to ensure the success of companies across major industry sectors." Gellings concluded, "The acquisition also complements our existing MES business which we serve through our longstanding relationships with a variety of software partners." "This acquisition brings together two companies with similar cultures and complementary offerings," added David Wasson, former Senior Vice President and Practice Lead of TSC's SAP Consulting Practice and now President of the new wholly owned subsidiary, EnteGreat Solutions, LLC. "We are extremely excited about the opportunities for growth ahead. We are adding EnteGreat's manufacturing execution expertise to our portfolio of superior end-to-end SAP solutions. By accessing EnteGreat's deep skills, products and capabilities in the manufacturing space we will be able to take advantage of new market opportunities as we continue to serve our existing customers." An important component of the deal involves the merger of complementary intellectual property (IP) that includes both companies' SAP accelerators, including EDGE(TM), CMF(R) and MPF(TM). The combined IP further differentiates EnteGreat with technology that accelerates customers' time-to-value while reducing the risk associated with deploying SAP solutions. Both organizations are distinguished by their experienced management and integration consultants. EnteGreat's responsive structure and efficient business model has helped it deliver superior value to its Fortune 500 customers since 2000.
